Learning Outcomes
To achieve this unit a learner must:
- Understand the impact of substance misuse,
mental illness and/or domestic abuse on parenting
abilities.
- Be able to plan an intervention to meet the
needs of parents and improve parenting.
- Understand the impact of parental substance
misuse, mental illness and/or domestic abuse on
children and young people.
- Be able to assess the needs of a child or
young person who has been traumatised by their
experience of living with issues of parental
lifestyle or mental health.
- Understand the importance of care planning
when supporting children and young people
affected by parental issues.
- Be able to contribute to preparing and
reviewing a care plan for a child or young person
affected by parental issues.
